Day One Designing a New Collection of Prints and Patterns for Baby Boy Nursery Bedding

After a day working on my new print collection I thought I'd share what my Adobe Illustrator workspace looks like. This one is going to be a collection of fabrics for a baby boy's nursery with a desert theme. I started by researching Navajo textile traditions on the Metropolitan Museum website and the National Museum of the American Indian website. As I was studying the motifs used by the Navajo I was interested to see how many elements are similar to other cultures, both in the Americas and abroad. I've started a list of images to study further, but for now I had invoke a bit of discipline and get to work on the print collection. I want to combine the Navajo motifs and imagery with the very clean design aesthetic that is currently trending in baby nurseries. Stay tuned for a sneak peek at the prints as they emerge.
