Held in Common: Green

This section introduces the Green Series within Held in Common, Carlyn Clark's contribution to the Chromatic Collaboration project initiated in 2019 by four members of the Hana Kark Collective (Caryl St. Ama, Margaret Lazzari, Nancy Kay Turner, and Carlyn Clark). Working independently across primary and secondary colors, each artist created 25 distinct 6” x 6” birch plywood panels per color.

As the third color in the spectrum, the Green Series expands upon the stitch explorations of the Orange series with a more directional approach, integrating scavenged green sea glass collected over years of family holidays at Keats Island, British Columbia. Each panel combines these personal artifacts with industrial waste fabrics and offcuts from interior fabric headers, stitched by hand and machine before being laminated to 3/4” Baltic birch plywood.
